June is Pride Month for the LGBTQ+ community. Many people with disabilities are also part of this community and understanding the oppression that this population experiences is essential for effective allyship. This webinar will help participants make connections between the types of violence that disabled people experience as well as the types of violence that LGBTQ+ people experience in order to better understand individuals who belong to both communities. Participants will also gain the tools to recognize instances of micro and macro aggressions against LGBTQ+ people with disabilities and identify ways in which they can take action to address these forms of violence in their own lives.
CONTENT WARNING: This presentation will discuss examples of violence, including but not limited to domestic violence, suicide, hate crimes, etc. Personal discretion is advised.
